Las Vegas, Nev. (June 27, 2008) – Everest University is proud of one of its own. Wayne
Geldbach has capitalized on his strengths serving in the military and now as a student
pursing his degree in Computer Information Science.
Geldbach, along with five other men and women who have honorably served in the
military, will be recognized by the Imagine America Foundation with a 2008 LDRSHIP
Award. A cash grant of up to $5,000 sponsored by Lockheed Martin will be given to
Geldbach to provide assistance toward completing his current career education at Everest.
As part of the annual Career College Association Convention & Exposition, the Imagine
America Foundation will host the 2008 LDRSHIP Awards at a sit-down luncheon from
noon to 2:15 p.m. on Friday, June 27, 2008, at the Las Vegas, Nev., Mandalay Bay
Resort and Casino. The Imagine America Foundation is the research and scholarshipproviding
arm of the career college sector.
The LDRSHIP Award stands for Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor,
Integrity and Personal Courage, characteristics Geldbach has exemplified both in his
military and student-life experience.
Not only was Geldbach stationed in Berlin during the Cold War, but he has also been
stationed in Vietnam, North Korea, South Korea, Guyana, Iran, Yemen, Honduras and
Zaire. His military service has provided a backbone for the personal courage needed as a
civilian coping with the death of his wife and later his son.
“This guy has been through so much in his life,” says John R. Buck, president of Everest
University in Pinellas. “With his near-perfect attendance and 3.95 GPA, Wayne has
continued to persevere, keeping his eye on the goal of attaining his degree. He’s a
survivor with a positive attitude and willingness to share with others; we’re proud to have
him as one of our students.”
