FOUNDATION HIGHLIGHT

Award program for online/distance learners!

Distance education has grown immensely in the last few years. Most colleges have created distance education courses to meet the needs of their enrollment increases. Today more non-traditional students are seeking higher education and have specific needs for schooling that traditional higher learning institutions are not able to accommodate. However, one question remains the same: where do you find financial support for online/distance learning?

The Foundation recognizes the need for funding for online/distance learning students and created a new award program for these students. The Imagine America Online award program builds upon the Foundation’s award-winning Imagine America scholarship program, which has helped thousands of high school seniors each year attend career colleges in the United States and Puerto Rico. Any qualified, prospective, enrolling, online/distance learner attending a participating career college is eligible for this $1,000 education award.

To qualify, you must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident; meet eligibility requirements of the college; be at least 17 years old; have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent; complete our online Student Assessment with a satisfactory outcome; and be enrolling toward an online degree or certificate program. If you or someone you know has decided to study through an online/distance program, our award program can help you financially. To apply, visit our scholarship web site www.imagine-america.org and click on "Apply" under "Online Students/Distance Learners."

Is your career college interested in participating in this program? If your school is a private postsecondary institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, you can participate in the program. For a modest annual participation fee, your career college can take part in this exciting new award program. Why, you ask? By participating you can attract new students to your school, and your modest contribution will support an innovative new aid program that recognizes the importance of continued education.
